“Camila” Maria Jimenez, MSW, ACSW
Care Advisor

Maria “Camila” Jimenez is a bilingual Care Advisor at Urban Health Group, LLC. She was born in Bogota, Colombia and was raised in Oakland from a young age but continues to call Colombia, “home.” She experienced the challenges of coming to a new country where the food, language, people and culture were very different. She served as an interpreter for her parents and noticed the vast disparities within her community. She has worked with non profits in order to serve the Spanish speaking community and help families gain access to resources. Her experiences as an immigrant and upbringing in Oakland influenced her decision in receiving a B.A in Social Welfare and a Minor in Education from the University of California, Berkeley. While pregnant, her first year, and having her baby the second year, she received her Masters in Social Work from California State East Bay with an Emphasis in Community Mental Health. She is in the process of licensure. She is passionate about support for families throughout their pregnancy but also processing the trauma and caring for a medically fragile child after leaving the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

She has been working as a Family Infant Health social worker in the hospital setting providing emotional support as well as mental health services to families in labor and delivery, postpartum, obstetrics and gynecology clinics, and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

She strongly believes that our roots are fundamental in understanding who we are as individuals and are tools to help connect with everyone around us. She enjoys being a mom, dog mom, spending time with family, attempting to cook, crafting, painting, baking, gardening, and LEARNING.
