Branden Thomas is a San Francisco native pursuing a Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in Direct Practice from Howard University. As a young professional, Branden has focused his career on client health and wellness in both the nonprofit and government sectors. As part of his professional background, he has contributed to the San Francisco Homeless Outreach Team at the SF Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing, where he led a team of outreach specialists in the Bayview District and focused on assisting homeless clients. Branden has experience with the implementation of major violence prevention and intervention programs for at-risk youth and young adults. He is also experienced in case management and has led numerous wide-ranging partnerships to support care plans and resource navigation for justice-involved individuals. He has a proven track record of identifying and building stakeholder relationships across various organizations, including city departments and community-based organizations. In his most recent role, Branden served as the Community Safety Program Administrator for the Health Education Council of Sacramento. In this role, he revamped the design and implementation of the Safety, Health, Opportunity, and Practice Program (SHOP), which focused on youth and youth-adult violence prevention. Throughout this period, Branden was instrumental in the Sacramento community, leading 16 SHOP cohorts and supporting 170 young people across the region. Branden holds a Bachelor of Sociology degree from Sacramento State University. He is committed to advocating for social justice and aims to continue to work directly with the Black community in a greater capacity.
